Meet the Team
Founded by Mama, Kelsie Buhl
My name is Kelsie Buhl and I am a wife, business owner, and mother to 3 (soon to be FOUR!) wonderful children.
I believe there are a million different ways to be an incredible mother.
As mothers, we are blessed with intuition, revelation and gut feelings of what is right for our babies.
Since my oldest was born, I had that gut feeling that we would be pulled to alternative education. At first, I thought it meant traditionally homeschooling my children. I quickly learned (by meeting my child LOL) that he didn’t want to be my student, and that I was not cut out to be his teacher!
This brain child of mine was born through research, thought and prayer and now we have The Village Schoolhouse. A homeschool alternative that gives the deep love, connection and individualized education that homeschool brings, with the structured, paced education taught by some of the finest educators in Las Vegas (instead of by me haha!).
The Village Schoolhouse was created to foster a deep love of learning in each and every child, by first loving THEM!
”A love of learning has a lot to do with learning that we are loved.”

My husband and I have 3 beautiful daughters and an English Mastiff (whom I refer to as my only son)! As a family we enjoy traveling, hiking, and exploring. This is going to be a great year! Ozra Kiss - 1st + 2nd
Hello Families! My name is Ozra Kiss and I am so excited to be your child’s 1st/2nd grade teacher this year! This will be my 11th year teaching both Kindergarten and 1st grade. I graduated from UNLV (Go Rebels) in 2011 with a degree in education. I married my high school sweetheart and together we have two beautiful children who are 9 and 13. In my spare time, I love to spend time with my family and practicing photography. I look forward to a great year with you and your child!

No. By law, homeschooled students in Nevada are not required to do standardized testing. We have (2) one-on-one student assessments with Mrs. Burchell throughout the year.
-
We do not do letter grading, we do standard based grading. We have clear standards that we are teaching the students to meet, so they are either meeting the standard or not! If they are not meeting the standard, we continue to focus, teach, practice, and learn until they meet that standard. This keeps learning individualized and keeps students thriving!
